Basic Knowledge of Non-Contact Thermometers

What is Transmittance?

Amount of Infrared Ray Transmitted by Objects

Transmittance is the proportion of infrared energy that passes through an object.

  • Glass/Film

    Object with high transmittance
Affected by the temperature of the background

  • Rubber

    Non-transparent object
    Stable temperature measurement is possible

Low transmittance minimizes the effects of the background temperature, allowing for stable temperature measurement.

When measuring glass or film, using a thermometer specifically designed for glass or film allows measurement without being affected by the background.
