Basic Knowledge of Non-Contact Thermometers

Infrared Rays and Wavelengths

What Is Infrared Ray?

Infrared rays are a type of electromagnetic wave with wavelengths range from 0.8 to 1000 μm.
The properties of electromagnetic waves vary greatly depending on their wavelength. In addition to infrared rays, other types of electromagnetic waves include X-rays, ultraviolet rays, and radio waves, which are used for a variety of purposes.
Non-contact thermometers measure temperature by receiving light with wavelengths between approximately 0.8 and 14 μm.
