Current issues
Food label marking accidents account for about 1/4 of all recorded food accidents, leading to food recalls and loss due to waste.
Goals
OPTEX FA is dedicated to improving marking inspection processes in factories by offering easy-to-use, low-cost marking inspection vision sensors.
Initiative details
- Develop and market marking inspection vision sensors
(for packaging machines and food factories) - Develop and market label inspection systems
(for the food service industry) - Promote marking inspection-related educational activities
(including seminars)
- Develop and market marking inspection vision sensors
-
Current issues
Detection, measurement, and other non-contact sensing processes are necessary in a wide variety of fields beyond factory automation, including social infrastructure.
Goals
Through its sensors, cameras, thermometers, and other detection- and measurement-related FA products, OPTEX FA is dedicated to helping prevent a wide range of accidents and malfunctions.
In-House Initiatives
- Optimization of proposals by sharing knowledge
(CUST systems, in-house study groups) - Diversification of in-house evaluation systems and increasing performance capabilities through “Solutions Contests”
Solution
- Object detection system for train doors using distance sensors
(safety measures) - Using thermal imaging cameras for fire prevention measures at waste disposal sites
- Reduces CO2 emissions by controlling temperature and maintaining quality with a non-contact thermometer
- Optimization of proposals by sharing knowledge

Current issues
Expanding business activities also results in increased use of paper and energy resources.
Using paper also leads to a variety of operational inefficiencies.Goals
In addition to reducing its use of paper and energy resources, OPTEX FA is dedicated to improving both operational efficiencies and work styles.
- Reduce copy paper consumption by 30% compared to previous year
Initiative details
OPTEX FA hopes to reduce paper and ink consumption, minimize energy waste, reform work styles through telecommuting, and improve meeting and workflow efficiency through the promotion of paperless business activities.
- Adopt electronic stamps
- Promote fax data utilization
- Increase digitization of documents (into PDF format)
- Offer PDF versions of catalogs
-
Current issues
An inadequate quality assurance system can lead to frequent product defects and increased waste.
Manufacturing and delivering substitute products also leads to greater energy waste.Goals
OPTEX FA is dedicated to ensuring the effectiveness of its quality assurance systems to reduce the frequency of product defects.
Initiative details
- Participate in development review sessions to better influence product development life cycles.
- Better manage the initial flow of new products.
- Implement acceptance inspections to prevent the delivery of defective products.
-
Current issues
Hazardous chemicals used in product materials can pose a risk of death or serious health risks throughout a product’s life cycle, either directly or through air, water, and soil contamination.
Goals
OPTEX FA is dedicated to minimizing such harmful risks by reducing hazardous chemicals used in products.
Initiative details
- Establish Green Procurement Guidelines and clarify policies throughout the supply chain.
- Determine which chemicals are used in supplies throughout the supply chain, and limit the use of nationally and regionally regulated chemical substances.
-
Current issues
When it comes to procuring minerals used in products, human rights issues are a concern throughout the supply chain, including not only child labor but also funding armed groups involved in civil wars and other conflicts that cause serious human rights violations.
Goals
OPTEX FA strives to eliminate supply chain risks that could lead to human rights issues such as child labor and funding armed groups involved in civil wars and other conflicts that cause serious human rights violations.
Initiative details
When requested to do so by customers, OPTEX FA will conduct surveys using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) or Cobalt Reporting Template (CRT).
ESG-oriented management
The OPTEX Group promotes ESG-oriented management to ensure medium- to long-term growth in terms of the environment, society, and governance.
