Detection of IC Chip Presence in a JEDEC Tray

  • Detection of IC Chip Presence in a JEDEC Tray

The BGS-ZL10x laser BGS sensor can be used to detect the presence of IC chips in JEDEC trays. Since IC chips are black and have low reflectance, stable detection may be difficult with conventional diffuse-reflective sensors using an LED light source. However, the BGS-ZL10x, which employs a laser + BGS (Background Suppression), can reliably detect the presence of black IC chips. In cases where the height difference between the IC chip and the bottom of the tray pocket is small, the ZA-B Series CMOS laser sensors with an OLED display are recommended, as they incorporate a CMOS image sensor in the receiver. For example, the ZA-BL60 can discriminate a height difference as small as 0.08 mm.
