Inspection for short-shot defects in resin molded parts

  • Inspection for short-shot defects in resin molded parts

This is an inspection for short-shot defects in resin molded components. The inspection area—end face of the part—is normally a flat shape without height differences, but height differences can be created when a short-shot defect occurs. With coaxial lighting, specular reflections from the bottom inside the part are captured, making it difficult to inspect only the short-shot portion. By mounting a low-angle attachment to OPR Series sensing ring lighting and illuminating from a shallow angle, the part end face will be captured in white without illuminating the inside of the connector, enabling short-shot defect inspection.

Imaging example

OK: Coaxial lighting

Up to the inside of the connector component is also glowing white.

  • OK: Coaxial lighting

OK: Ring lighting with low-angle attachment

The connector’s interior is not illuminated, and only the component end face is captured in white.
