Inspection of text on side mirrors
The text engraved on a vehicle side mirror is inspected using a camera and backlight. Coaxial lighting is suitable for capturing glossy surfaces, but the curvature of the mirror in addition to insufficient field of view causes uneven brightness within the viewing area. If a large-size, diffusion type OPF backlight is used, positioning the lighting and camera so that diffused light reflects off the mirror allows a wide area to be captured uniformly, enabling the inspection of the entire text.
